Children's Story Hour

Barrington Books' children's story hour is Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. for children 2-5 years of age (all ages are welcome) and is hosted by children's book author Anika Denise. All books are selected and read by Anika each week with a craft to follow.

Anika is author of the popular children's book "Pigs Love Potatoes" and also writes a weekly article called Bookmarks for the local newspaper. Bookmarks covers topics on various children’s books, themes, authors and illustrators.

Story Hour at Barrington Books was honored with a 2009 Editor’s Pick in Rhode Island Monthly’s “Best of Rhode Island” issue. To check it out Click Here!

All selections are wonderful recommendations for books to read with children. Please visit our Children's Book Recommendations page to view and purchase books read at past story hours.

Lion-to-Lamb

March "comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb," the saying goes, and so we'll be reading books about what this transformative month of the calendar brings: Windy, chilly days, turning to longer, warmer, bird-chirping afternoons (we hope) as the first day of spring approaches.  We'll also have a St. Patrick's Day reading selection in honor of that luck-filled March holiday!

Books include:

  • "Little Cloud and Lady Wind," by Toni Morrison
  • "The Luckiest St. Patrick's Day Ever," by Teddy Slater
  • "Birds," by Kevin Henkes
  • "Forever Friends," by Carin Berger
  • "Here Comes Gosling," by Sandy Asher

Join us tomorrow at 10:30 am, for a lion-to-lamb story hour and craft that will have your wee birdies chirping "hooray for spring!"

See you in th
e story corner!
