Fancy Nancy's Perfectly Posh Paper Doll Book (Paperback)$6.99 ISBN-13: 9780061873287Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: HarperFestival, 01/01/2010 Dogs & Devotion (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9781401322960Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Hyperion, 11/01/2009 Some monks bake bread. Some monks brew beer. The Monks of New Skete raise dogs, and their divine canines are celebrated around the globe. An extension of their core spiritual values—patience, consistency and discipline—their training methods have helped countless pet owners turn even their most ill-mannered dogs into loving companions, and their book, How to Be Your Dog’s Best Friend, is considered a classic. But dog training isn’t a one-way street; over the years, the monks have learned invaluable lessons from their canine charges. Dogs & Devotion explores this relationship, explaining how our pets can help us become better people, if we only listen. Beautifully photographed, it’s one gift book that all animal lovers will treasure. $19.99 ISBN-13: 9781401310042Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Hyperion, 10/01/2009 The Middle Place (Paperback)$14.95 ISBN-13: 9781401340933Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Hyperion, 01/01/2009 For Kelly Corrigan, family is everything. At thirty-six, she had a marriage that worked, two funny, active kids, and a weekly newspaper column. But even as a thriving adult, Kelly still saw herself as the daughter of garrulous Irish-American charmer George Corrigan. She was living deep within what she calls the Middle Place--“that sliver of time when parenthood and childhood overlap”--comfortably wedged between her adult duties and her parents’ care. But Kelly is abruptly shoved into coming-of-age when she finds a lump in her breast--and gets the diagnosis no one wants to hear. When George, too, learns that he has late-stage cancer, it is Kelly’s turn to take care of the man who had always taken care of her--and to show us a woman who finally takes the leap and grows up. |

This week at Story Hour:
Last week, the children had a special request for DINOSAUR BOOKS. Since we aim to please at story hour, we’ll be reading about the extinct (Woops! Shhh, they don't know they're extinct, thanks to these fabulous picture books) ...ahem, I mean, the distinct creatures.
And just as a recommendation: If you have kids at home starting to read on their own, “Danny And The Dinosaur,” by Syd Hoff is a classic and one of our all time favorite “I Can Read” Books. Two years ago, it was re-released in a 50th Anniversary edition. You can find it, along with many other great “I Can Read” titles, on the shelves at Barrington Books! So don’t miss this specially-requested stompin’, chompin’, rompin’ dinosaur story hour, this Thursday, March 4th, at 10:30am. See you in the story corner!
